Many players really enjoy playing the Najdorf as black, but once white enters the Sicilian he has many other options than the Open Sicilian. There are various gambits (such as wing gambit, smith morra) as well as common sidelines such as 2.c3 (Alapin), closed Sicilian/Grand Prix attack (Starts from 2.Nc3) and more. White also has some Anti-Sicilians in the open Sicilian that try to get you away from your Najdorf setup (4.Qxd4, 5.f3). Considering how popular many of these are at both club and master level, it should benefit any Sicilian player to learn how to deal with Anti-Sicilians and sidelines. This repertoire is mostly aimed at Najdorf players – if possible we sometimes transpose into the Najdorf and in some other lines, we get similar positions. Non-Najdorf players should also get a lot of benefit from this repertoire. This book should go well with GM Rafael’s Sicilian Najdorf.
